How you should bet every Week 5 NFL game
Chicago (-5) @ Oakland – 40 1/2 o/u
The Chicago Bears enter the game at 3-1 after an impressive 16-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Raiders offense sprang to life last week to defeat the Colts 31-24. The Bears defense is legitimately one of the top three in the league, and has the resume to prove it. The Raiders offense is league average on a good day and caught some fire to put up 31 (and a depleted Colts’ defense). The Bears still won’t score any points with Chase Daniel at the helm, but neither will the Raiders. Take the Bears (-5) and the under, in a 17-10 game.
New Orleans (-3) v Tampa Bay – 46 o/u
New Orleans is the best team in the NFC, the Bucs are the least consistent team in the NFL. New Orleans’ stout defense held the previously unbeaten Cowboys to 10 points last week. The Bucs gave up 40. The Saints have Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas, two of the top 10 weapons in all of football. The Bucs have Jameis Winston, the least consistent quarterback in all of football. Take the Saints (-3) in a landslide, and take the over because the Saints will score points at home. 31-17.
Buffalo (+3) @ Tennessee – 38 1/2 o/u
It is shocking that Tennessee is favored in this game after being horribly inconsistent all season. Buffalo has been consistent, especially on defense, and were a game winning drive from beating New England last week. Buffalo may not score much, but Tennessee may not score at all. Take the Bills (+3) on the road, and the under. 17-3.
LA Chargers (-6 1/2) v Denver – 44 1/2 o/u
The Chargers put up 30 in a ‘get right’ game last week while the Broncos are averaging only 18 points per game. Denver’s once proud defense gave up 26 to media darling but mediocre quarterback Gardner Minshew. The Chargers get Melvin Gordon back to the offense this week while the Broncos are starting to deal with being sellers at the trade deadline. The Chargers in a landslide, and the over. 38-10.
New England (-15 1/2) @ Washington – 42 o/u
The Patriots are the best team in football. Washington may be the worst. Tom Brady is really good. Dwayne Haskins is (probably) starting his first game. The only risk here is that New England let’s off the gas, which they don’t really do. Take the Patriots and the over, 38-7.
