The Missouri Tigers were up big on the Troy Trojans, but that didn’t stop Troy from laying an unnecessary cheap hit on Missouri quarterback Kelly Bryant.

After losing their season opener on the road to the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie, the Missouri Tigers have won three ball games in a row and will have their fourth consecutive victory once the clock strikes zero versus the Troy Trojans. However, Missouri has seen the last of starting quarterback Kelly Bryant, who suffered a knee injury on a cheap shot late in the first half.

Missouri took a 42-7 lead over Troy heading into halftime. Bryant had already completed 12 of 19 passes for 221 yards, three touchdowns and no picks, as well as had six carries for 20 yards and an additional trip to pay dirt.

Unfortunately, his day is over thanks to this cheap shot a Troy defender laid on him well after he threw the ball for six points. Bryant’s left knee buckled on this late hit. He threw a touchdown on the play but is back in street clothes and on crutches entering the second half for Missouri.

Bryant has not returned to the sideline and the extent and severity of his injury have not been revealed.

This was 100 percent a cheap shot on Bryant. If he’s out for the year, then that’s all she wrote for Bryant’s college football career, as this will be the fifth game he has appeared in his senior season with his second team. He might be a pro, but that late hit was dirty.

The Tigers have not been ranked at any point this year, but could if they keep on winning. That being said, a road loss in Week 1 to Wyoming certainly isn’t helping Missouri’s cause for top-25 contention. Neither will be having to use another quarterback besides Bryant in future games this season.
