Late DraftKings college football wide receiver picks October 5

Top Tier:

Boise’s receivers are easily the best on the slate, especially since Warren Jackson is likely out. However, the Rams are the same team that said all week Kinsey was doubtful, and he ended up carrying a full load last week, so who knows? I like Jackson as the best overall receiver if he plays. Jackson caught 12 passes last week against Toledo.

Are they worth the markup though, especially if Boise goes up big? Well, they have to get up big somehow, right? Then the question becomes who will catch the passes.

CT Thomas is the logical choice. He has at least four receptions in every game and leads the team in touchdowns. Khalil Shakir leads the team in receptions, but he only has 11 in three games since the win in Tallahassee. John Hightower is coming on lately with nine receptions in the last two games. Not a one of these is a must-have, but all are solid picks.

Middle Tier:

The secret is finally out on Aaron Fuller. Fuller is easily Eason’s favorite target and is entirely too cheap against a Stanford defense that has allowed 287.5 passing yards per game. Just a reminder that one of those five games was against a Northwestern team that is lucky to have 300 yards of total offense in any given game.

If this new San Diego State passing game is a thing, Kobe Smith is an intriguing play. The Aztecs didn’t throw against New Mexico State because they didn’t have to. In games against UCLA and Utah State, Smith has 14 receptions for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns. They may have to throw here as well.

Even if Warren Jackson plays, I see Dante Wright as a strong play. He is the best athlete on this Colorado State team and the Rams will get him the ball one way or the other. Jackson’s status will affect the upside of Nate Craig-Myers more.

Bargain Shoppers:

I really don’t trust any Stanford receiver if Costello is under center. If Mills starts, Mills has a good rapport with Colby Parkinson. They are a bit of a risk against Washington though.

Cade Otton and Chico McClatcher are cheap for a reason, but Otton has at least two receptions in every game, so he’s not just a garbage man. McClather got two carries out of the backfield last week, but he didn’t catch a pass. They are both a big risk, but the upside is interesting.
