3. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are trending toward a pick at the top of the 2020 draft. A strong case can be made for them to out-tank the Miami Dolphins this year to get the No. 1 pick, and a new young quarterback in prospective No. 1 pick Tua Tagovailoa.

Cincinnati can cut quarterback Andy Dalton after this year with no dead money hit while clearing $17.7 million in cap space (according to Over The Cap). As it is next year is the final year of his contract, and if things really go off the rails over the next few weeks Dalton is possible trade bait. Even if he remains around into training camp next year, the Bengals would do well to plan for the future or even add some competition for Dalton.

Bridgewater could become a bridge quarterback (pun not intended) for the Bengals, between the fading Dalton era and a new era eventually led by a well-regarded young quarterback handpicked by head coach Zac Taylor next spring. But a simple change under center to Bridgewater, and using that likely high draft pick to add a high-end talent at another position, could be an alternate plan to try to make the full bottoming-out in Cincinnati a one-year thing.
