NFL quarterback rankings, Week 6: Philip Rivers struggles badly
Danny White Division
17. Kirk Cousins (LW: 19)
Cousins desperately needed to have a good game against the Giants, and he did. Most of the damage came in the first half, but he ended up with 306 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-27 passing. A solid day after all the drama of last week.
16. Jameis Winston (LW: 17)
Winston wasn’t great in New Orleans, but he also avoided the killer interceptions which have defined his career. Therefore, he doesn’t slide down. The Bucs need more from Winston consistently, but he’s done a nice job to work himself into Bruce Arians’ system.
15. Jacoby Brissett (LW: 14)
Brissett didn’t do much on Sunday night in the Colts huge win at Arrowhead. Indianapolis will need to continue to run the ball and play defense to win, because while Brissett is decent, he’s not going to create a ton of offense. Throwing for 151 yards on 5.2 yards per attempt with a red-zone interception isn’t great.
14. Lamar Jackson (LW: 10)
Jackson looked like an MVP candidate over the first two weeks. Of course, the opponents were Arizona and Miami. Over the past three games, Jackson has struggled mightily in the pocket, including three interceptions on Sunday in Pittsburgh. He needs to be much better.
13. Jimmy Garoppolo (LW: 15)
Garoppolo didn’t have to do anything on Monday night, mostly because the 49ers ran for something like 874 yards on nine carries. The Eastern Illinois product hasn’t been asked to make many plays, but he’s this high because the competition behind him isn’t stiff, and San Francisco is undefeated.
