The New York Yankees made quick work of the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS, and these are the three biggest takeaways from a dominant performance.

Bless their hearts, the Minnesota Twins never had a chance in the ALDS against the New York Yankees. The Yankees won all three games of the series by a comfortable margin, outscoring the Twins 23-7, never trailing past the third inning. Dating back to 2004, the Yankees have beaten the Twins in 13 straight playoff games.

Unlike some of their past playoff matchups, the Yankees did not enter as completely overwhelming favorites over the Twins, who won over 100 games for the first time since 1965 and hit over 300 home runs on the season. This was supposed to be a different Minnesota team, but the outcome was the same as always.

Everyone played well for the Yankees, who hit a ridiculous .293/.403/.525 in the series with eight doubles and five home runs. They also drew 17 walks and stole four bases. The Yankees were firing on all cylinders and had the Twins on their toes. With a pitching staff that stepped up to shut down the powerful Twins lineup, there are only positives to take away from this series for Yankees fans. These are the three biggest takeaways to mull over as the team awaits its opponent in the ALCS.

3. Gleyber Torres has ice in his veins

Not since Derek Jeter was patrolling the infield have the Yankees seen a young hitter’s postseason career get off to as strong a start as 22-year-old Gleyber Torres. After going hitless in last year’s AL Wild Card Game, Torres has hit .360/.429/.600 over his next seven playoff games with three doubles, a home run, four RBI and three walks. He was the best hitter on either team in the ALDS.

Torres went 3-for-4 in the clinching game with two doubles and a home run to almost single-handedly knock out the Twins. He is already a two-time All-Star who hit 38 home runs in his first full season in the big leagues. Stealing Torres away from the Chicago Cubs who rented Chapman to win a World Series is a steal for general manager Brian Chapman.
