NFL DFS: Philadelphia Eagles @ Minnesota Vikings

PREVIEW

After raising criticism after their week 4 dud, the Vikings passing attack looked crisp and efficient against the Giants, as Adam Thielen torched DeAndre Baker for a 7-130-2 line. We could see another efficient outing from the Minnesota aerial attack as the Eagles have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing WRs (32.8) and the 6th most to opposing QBs (22.0).

On the flip side, the Vikings have been a stout defensive unit against the run (5th in rush DVOA), but have been a bit more susceptible against the pass (23rd in pass DVOA). Regardless, the Vikings have ranked in the better third of the league when it comes to fantasy points allowed to QBs, RBs, WRs and TEs, making this a tough matchup for the offense as a whole.

CASH PLAYS

Adam Thielen (WR – MIN): Philadelphia has been burned repeatedly by WR1s over the last year and change and Thielen busted out for 7-130-2 last week. He’ll take his 29.31% target share and should go head-to-head with Craig James this week, who filled in and saw 56 snaps last week en route to posting an abysmal 49.4 PFF grade.

Zach Ertz (TE – PHI): Getting a 24.34% target share is a level of safety that’s hard to come by at the tight end position, even in a difficult matchup. He should continue to operate as a check-down option for Wentz and could see increased action over the middle as linebacker Anthony Barr has posted his worst PFF grade (59.8) since 2016.

GPP PLAYS

Kirk Cousins (QB – MIN): It’s still hard for me to trust Cousins in cash, but he was uber-efficient last week, going 22-27 for 306 yards and a pair of TDs. The Eagles rank 23rd in pass DVOA and with such a stout run defense, there’s a good chance that the Vikings will script their offense to give Cousins more work once again this week.

Dalvin Cook (RB – MIN): While Cook has been a monster this season by posting 20+ fantasy points (0.5-point PPR) in 4 of 5 contests, he should see a tough test against a Vikings front that ranks 4th in the league in rush DVOA. In his last outing with a defense ranked top-5 in rush DVOA (Chicago), he only rushed 14 times for 35 yards, but caught 6 of 8 targets for an additional 35 yards. I’m not saying he’s a bad play, but there are other players I’d rather roster at his salary in cash.

Alshon Jeffery (WR – PHI): While he should get the shadow coverage of Xavier Rhodes, Rhodes has actually posted the lowest PFF grade of his career through the first five weeks (51.3), ranking 85th among qualified cornerbacks. He’s led the team in targets (17) over the past two weeks and if Wentz is looking to throw, Jeffery will be a go-to with DeSean Jackson still sidelined.
