NBA Preseason DFS: Monday, 10/14

Let me just start by saying thanks to all of you for reading these NBA preseason DFS articles and for many of you following on Twitter. Covering the preseason has been a great way to start engaging with the NBA DFS community and get geared up for the regular season, which is only a week from tomorrow!  I’m having a lot of fun breaking down these preseason NBA slates for you and happy to be able to provide some more free content here at FanSided Fantasy!

There weren’t many games over the weekend, but we come right back with six games on a Monday and a 7:30 lock time. We are already in the final week of the preseason so we may see coaches give their starters almost three-quarters of run in some of these games and we absolutely have to take advantage of those situations if we get some of them tonight.

I love playing preseason NBA DFS for several reasons and I’m going to do my best to provide content when I can fit it in between my NFL writing schedule. Here’s why you should play NBA preseason DFS, too.

  1. It will familiarize you with all the teams’ rotations. At some point in the preseason (it might not be the first game) each team will attempt to play their starters for 2-3 quarters and give us some clues as to who their top subs are going to be off the bench.
  2. It allows you to monitor the roles and production of rookies and players on new teams.
  3. It forces you to follow NBA beat writers on Twitter for news about minutes and player injuries/rest. This is something you should definitely do for the regular season.
  4. It allows you the ability to practice roster construction on whatever site you choose to play.
  5. It’s really fun and there’s absolutely an edge if you’re willing to put in the work!

I’m going to do my best to do some of that work for you by giving you all the info that I’m able to get my hands on, but understand that this article is published early in the morning so you’re going to have to keep tabs on the teams playing tonight in case players get ruled out during the day or coaches announce their plans on how they are going to distribute minutes to their starters.
