DraftKings college football showdown picks October 16

Once again, we have a SunBelt game on Wednesday for our DraftKings college football showdown. This matchup between South Alabama and Troy promises to be more exciting and higher scoring than last week.

More from DraftKings

But Mike, you say. I don’t really know anything about Troy (didn’t they used to be Troy State?), South Alabama, their conference, coaches, or DraftKings college football showdown in general. The good news is for those of you that play the NFL showdown slates – hell, even the MLB and NBA showdown slates – is that nothing really changes. You still have to pay 1.5x market value for a captain, then you can fill the rest of your roster with whatever you want. You just have to have at least one player from each team.

The one notable difference in the DraftKings college football showdown tournament is that you cannot choose a defense. I’ll tell you that this is for obvious reasons. Defense is not a college level course for most schools. Don’t fret though! It just opens more offensive options.

Kickers are really only worth it if you see it being a high scoring game or a game of field goals. In this matchup, I would vote for the former.

The cash line last Wednesday was just 52.47 DraftKings points thanks to the 24 combined points between Appalachian State and Louisiana. My lineup missed the cash because I faded Zac Thomas, who was the single most important offensive player. Darrynton Evans was the only guy in my lineup that broke double digits, and he only did so because I had him at captain. Otherwise he wouldn’t have.

I expect this game to be on the lower end of the scoring spectrum, so it is especially important to get the key pieces of each offense for this DraftKings college football showdown matchup. That’s hard to do right? Especially when you can’t punt with a defense. Not necessarily. There are some sneaky plays in here that can open everything up. Let’s dig in to this interesting DraftKings college football showdown!
