2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert lands with Bengals
By Brad Weiss
In the battle of the winless, the Washington Redskins went down to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Redskins led the entire way, but nearly gave up the lead late, but thanks to a missed opportunity on a two-point conversion, the Redskins walked a win with a victory in Bill Callahan’s debut as the team’s interim-head coach.
For this Redskins team, this could be the last game they win all season, as they are an absolute mess on both sides of the ball. When it comes time for them to draft in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, they should look to bring in a franchise left tackle, as they spent their 2019 first round pick on their new franchise quarterback, Dwayne Haskins.
While it remains to be seen as to when Haskins will be ready to step into the starter’s role in DC, the fact that he needs more talent in front of him is evident on a week-to-week basis. Andrew Thomas is the best offensive lineman in this draft class, and based on his size, and strength, he should be able to start on the left side as a rookie at the NFL level.
The Atlanta Falcons were supposed to be a team that challenged to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season, but instead, they have been one of the worst teams in the conference. On Sunday, they went into Arizona to take on the NFC West rival Cardinals, and despite having more talent than their opponent, they once again found an opportunity to lose.
If the season continues to go down this path, head coach Dan Quinn will likely be shown the door, as he has yet to get his team playing consistent football all season long. Remember, this is a team that was in the Super Bowl a few years ago, but since then, they have been on a steady decline.
With their first round pick next April, the Falcons should look to bolster the defensive side of the ball, spending yet another early pick on defensive end. The only difference is that they would get an elite piece if Chase Young is still available, as he is one of the better edge rushing prospects we have seen in a long time.
