New Jersey Devils’ P.K. Subban unveils YouTube channel, vlog series

New Jersey Devils’ star P.K. Subban has announced the start of his new YouTube channel with a vlog of his first days as a member of the team.
P.K. Subban, the NHL’s most charismatic star, has announced the start of his own YouTube channel with a vlog series chronicling his first game with the New Jersey Devils. With this YouTube channel, in collaboration with New Jersey technology company Liquid Light, Subban joins a very small club of NHL players with online YouTube presences.
Subban’s first video, a 10-minute long vlog, chronicles his first few days with the Devils, from practices and the team’s season opener against the Winnipeg Jets, to spending time at his house with fiancee Lindsey Vonn and their dogs.
“I wanted to start the YouTube channel because I wanted to tell stories, and I think the best way to do that now is on YouTube,” Subban said in his first video. “It gives me the opportunity now to take my ideas of different things that I want to use and share with you guys and be able to put it on a platform where it can hopefully grow. I hope this also gives a lot of my fans more insight into my own personal world, a lot more than you would get on social media or anything like that.”
The video features a lot of Subban and Vonn sharing time together in their new house, and has an abundance of the wit and humor Subban has been known for during his time in the NHL. From reoccurring joke edits to a famous meme, the vlog features an inside look at Subban’s life and personality in a way we haven’t seen before.
This isn’t the first time an NHL player has branched out into this form of social media. Minnesota Wild forward J.T. Brown is a regular Fortnite player on Twitch, and he co-owns a YouTube channel with his wife, Lexi LaFleur.
However, Subban’s new channel will focus on bringing in a primarily hockey-focused audience behind the scenes into his life in a way no NHL player has done before. NHL teams, and the NHL itself, do highlight players behind the scenes on their own league branded YouTube channels, but Subban’s channel will be a first for a big name hockey star.
Subban is one of the only NHL stars to focus on his branding, personally and professionally. The defenseman also founded the P.K. Subban Foundation to help children and families across the globe.
