DraftKings college football wide receiver picks October 18

Top Tier:

I’m not all that excited about the Syracuse offense against this Pitt defense, especially since they mostly put the cap on KJ Hamler earlier this year. Trishton Jackson is the best receiver on this slate, but there’s a chance he gets locked down. I would only use him if you still have cash left after using the Ohio State pieces you want.

I want both Pitt receivers. Taysir Mack has 41 receptions. Maurice Ffrench has 50. They each only have two touchdowns, but that’s more Pickett hitting everything but what he’s supposed to. It’s getting better for Pickett so it will be much better for his receivers. I want all 91 of those receptions against this defense!

Middle Tier:

FAU doesn’t throw all that much, so there’s a risk in using John Mitchell. However, the upside is massive. He had more touchdowns in one game that both Mack and Ffrench have on the season. The three TD game was likely an anomaly, but it does highlight that Mitchell is the focal point of the Owls offense when they decide to throw the ball.

I tend to think that Ohio State’s big plays against Northwestern are going to be more on the ground than through the air. Northwestern has one of the best pass defenses in the country, and while the 142 allowed on the ground per game isn’t bad, it shows that it’s much easier running on them than passing. The Ohio State receivers are roulette anyway. I’m totally avoiding them with the wealth of other options.

Emoryie Edwards is way too cheap. Edwards didn’t make his season debut until two games ago but has racked up 12 catches for 1443 yards in those two games. Fresno may not throw a ton against UNLV, but they’re going to put it up enough to make Edwards an enticing option.

Bargain Shoppers:

If Oblad starts again for UNLV, Randal Grimes is a strong low level play. Grimes has 13 receptions in the three starts for Oblad compared to nine combined over the other three games.

Broc Thompson has come on strong for Marshall lately. Thompson has ten receptions for 144 yards in the last two games after not catching a pass since the opener. It looks as though Thompson has a nice role in the offense now, and he is very affordable at just $4,300.
