No. 18 Baylor at Oklahoma State – 4:00 p.m. – FOX

Baylor has been the surprise team in the Big 12 this season as they have emerged as the most viable threat to take a presumed Oklahoma vs. Texas Big 12 title game away from us.

They come into week eight sitting at 6-0 and No. 18 in the country. Ironically, this is the kind of situation that many thought Oklahoma State might be in at this point. Coming into the season most people thought that if someone were to dethrone Texas and Oklahoma as the kings of the Big 12, the Cowboys would be the ones to do it.

But in came the Bears who have won three straight Big 12 contests against Kansas State, Iowa State, and Texas Tech. These are all games that they are supposed to win, but in years prior, they weren’t even winning those types of games.

The Bears are led by their junior quarterback Charlie Brewer and senior wide receiver Denzel Mims. Mims leads the team in receptions and receiving yards catching 32 balls for 503 yards. Brewer has thrown for 1,554 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. With Oklahoma State ranking No. 96 in the country in passing defense, there should be plenty of room to exploit the Cowboys defense.

For Oklahoma State, they are carried by the second-best rushing attack in college football. Right now the Cowboys are averaging just over 300 yards rushing per game and are led by Chuba Hubbard who leads the nation in rushing as he has already rushed for more than 1,000 yards on the season. He currently has over 200 more rushing yards than any other running back in the country and isn’t talked about enough in the Heisman conversations.

In what should be a high-powered offensive battle, it will be interesting to see how the difference in offensive style clashes. The result of the game giving major implications in the Big 12 conference race.
