WWE Friday Night SmackDown preview, October 18: Watch online
Here’s all the information you need for the October 18, 2019 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
Last week started a two-night WWE Draft event that reset the Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown rosters. We saw a few faces in new places, and an even bigger surprise from one of the blue brand’s biggest fan favorites.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was set to defend the title against Bayley. But as the lovable superstar was making her way to the ring, she revealed that she had chopped off her hair and then destroyed her trademark inflatable “Bayley Buddies.” It was a different look for Bayley, who is usually upbeat and spunky. But all of that went out the window and she would shock Flair by dethroning her and becoming the new champion.
Now she will stand by and wait for her next challenger. And that person will be revealed after a six-pack challenge match this week. Carmella, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose will step into the ring, with the winner getting a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It will be a huge opportunity for one of these six women to move forward in their careers, but who will step up?
Four of SmackDown‘s top tag teams will mix it up in an eight-man tag match. The New Day will join forces with Heavy Machinery, as they take on Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode and current SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Revival. This will be a big preview of the upcoming Tag Team Turmoil Match at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. Roode and Ziggler are coming off a huge loss to The Viking Raiders on Monday night, where they lost the Raw Tag Team Championships, and will be looking for redemption. But they have a strong task ahead of them in facing The New Day and Heavy Machinery. Who will grab the advantage heading into big showdown at Crown Jewel?
After mouthing off on Twitter this week, Sami Zayn may have put Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a world of trouble.
His words did not go unnoticed, as Roman Reigns was more than happy to respond. He let them know that they knew where to find him, and suggested Nakamura bring his IC title with him. That said, the match has been made for Friday night when Reigns will challenge Nakamura for the gold. Can the King of Strong Style retain his title, or will the Big Dog add another title to his resume?
