Clemson Tigers cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. swings at a Louisville Cardinals cornerback Trenell Troutman on a punt. A fight broke out and Booth was ejected from the game.
Even though both programs are at different stages on competitiveness, the Clemson Tigers and the Louisville Cardinals do not like each other whatsoever. Clemson is a concurrent dynasty, along with the Alabama Crimson Tide of the SEC. Louisville might be rebuilding under head coach Scott Satterfield, but the Cardinals had been a great program upon joining the ACC in 2014.
Clemson was up 17-3 at halftime, but Louisville was at least keeping things interesting after picking off Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence twice in the first half. However, on a punt return, Clemson’s Andrew Booth Jr. would swing at Louisville’s Trenell Troutman. This led to a fight breaking out in the middle of the field.
Booth would be ejected from the game, but Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney told him that he needed to head to the locker room anyway. He was done playing for Clemson today, whether or not the officials decided to toss him.

These two cornerbacks were shoving away from the play. Louisville was punting you could just kind of tell that something was going to happen between these two as the play developed. There was some shoving, but Booth nearly knocked Troutman to the ground with a push before tackling him to the turf and swinging at him with both helmets still on.
Clemson should be walking all over Louisville in this game. Expect the Tigers to win this one outright in the second half, but these are the kind of mental lapses that can undermine a championship-caliber team like Clemson from getting back to the National Championship Game. What was Booth thinking? It doesn’t look like he was and now he’s out for the rest of the day.
