Dana Holgorsen sounds pretty fed up with the current state of Houston football.

Welp, the honeymoon period has been over for a while in Houston, but now I wonder if Holgorsen is thinking about a divorce from the program. Holgorsen is only halfway into his first year back as the Houston football head coach after leaving West Virginia to return to the program he once led.

I’m beginning to think he has some serious regrets about that decision. Houston is locked in a tight one with UConn, one of the worst programs in college football. The frustration has boiled over for Holgorsen who was overheard on the hot mic unleashing some expletives about the dysfunction he’s watching unfold on the gridiron.

“I can’t (expletive) coach this (expletive), Holgorsen was heard on the hot mic.”

Look, coaches unleashing some not safe for work words is not uncommon. Heck, it’s the norm during most games. Coaches lose their cool all the time and are often rewarded or celebrated for their antics.

That’s not the case for Holgorsen who made his bed and has to lie in it. It wouldn’t be like this if Holgorsen didn’t come out and basically say Houston football is tanking this year when he had D’Eriq King, one of the nation’s best quarterbacks, take the rest of the year off after falling to 1-3 so he could take a redshirt and come back next year.

Holgorsen did the move to punt on this season with the hope that the 2020 season would be much better with King having an extra year of practice, although not game action, to get comfortable with the ins and outs of the offense.

Holgorsen was playing the long game, but the video game strategy that is flawless in NCAA Football has real-life consequences and it’s growing increasingly clear by the game that the rest of the team quit on Holgorsen after he quit on them.

Now, Holgorsen has to deal with the mess he made but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit the ejector seat button and get out of town as fast as he can if there’s a shot he can find a job elsewhere where he won’t have to deal with the same expletive.
