Start Kyler Murray versus the Giants in Week 7
By John Buhler
Arizona Cardinals No. 1 pick in Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Kyler Murray is figuring it out. Start on him in Week 7 versus the New York Giants.
With the NFL season flying before our very eyes, there is a chance that your starting quarterback on your fantasy football team could be on his bye week. Even if that’s not the case, there is a decent chance you have picked up Kyler Murray as a free agent at some point, or wisely used a late-round pick on him during this year’s fantasy draft.
The Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback is starting to put it all together in his rookie year out of Oklahoma playing in Kliff Kingsbury’s NFL version of the Air Raid offense. He’s played so well of late that Jason Moore of The Fantasy Footballers say you have to start him this week versus the bad secondary of the New York Giants here in Week 7.

“I’ll kick it off right away with Kyler Murray as my start of the week,” said Moore. “He’s going to go nuclear this week. The Giants have allowed 285 passing yards per game. Kyler Murray is on pace to be one of the highest passing yards rookies of all time.”
“We’ve been saying if the passing touchdowns can come, then he takes himself from already being a top-12 into being a top-three type of quarterback for fantasy. And the biggest difference has been that he’s rushing the ball. That’s why his baseline is just so good.”
Moore would add that Murray wasn’t being used as much as a runner in his first two career starts at the beginning of the season, but now that Kingsbury has been on-board with using his rookie signal-caller’s dual-threat playmaking abilities that his fantasy football stock is now soaring through the roof.
This may not be a year where the Cardinals when a ton of games, but that does not mean that Murray can’t be a reason you end up winning your fantasy league. Having a quarterback that can make plays with his legs is never a bad thing.
With Giants having many issues on defense, look for Murray to go off on Sunday. Arizona is playing on the road so that could mean the Cardinals having a harder time rushing the ball with running back David Johnson because of crowd noise. Expect Murray to pass a lot and scramble a good bit, regardless of if the Cardinals win the game. Thanks for stopping by FanSided Fantasy!
