Aaron Rodgers ripped the Oakland Raiders apart in fantasy
By John Buhler
Aaron Rodgers is a bad, bad man. He obliterated the Oakland Raiders this week in the Green Bay Packers’ home victory. Hopefully, you started him in fantasy.
While the Green Bay Packers continue to win games under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur, his offense hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire for most of his tenure with the team. The Packers are 5-1 thanks in large part to a great defense that might get defensive coordinator Mike Pettine some looks as a second-time-around head coach.
That’s cool and all, but we all know how the best player on the Packer is. That would be superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In case anybody forgot just how bad of a man Rodgers is on the football field, he completely obliterated the Oakland Raiders on Sunday afternoon. On this week’s rewind episode, The Fantasy Footballers discussed Rodgers’ unbelievable day in terms of fantasy.

Rodgers threw for 429 yards and five passing touchdowns, as well as taking another one in himself on the ground for six rushing yards on the day. This total netted Rodgers 43.76 fantasy points this week in the Packers’ rout of the Silver and Black in Lambeau. His next best fantasy total on the year was 25.48 points in the Packers’ Week 4 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Frankly, it was only a matter of time before Rodgers found the special sauce in LaFleur’s offense. Of course, the Raiders’ secondary has been comically bad for a very long time. It’s not like Nnamdi Asomugha is coming through that door for the Silver and Black to save their lackluster defensive backfield anytime soon.
Regardless, Sunday’s performance versus Oakland is the reason why many of you took Rodgers very high in your fantasy football draft back in late August or early September. His on-field talent is simply undeniable. When the game plan is solid, this is the type of game you can expect out of Rodgers. It’s great to see him get the entire offense involved in this sort of game.
But will we be getting another 40-plus point game out of Rodgers in the near future? Let’s not assume that’s the new normal, but it does seem that the best is ahead of him in this Packers offense. So don’t think about letting Rodgers ride pine on your fantasy going forward. He’s a bad, bad man.
