Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds is here to stay. So go pick him up in your fantasy football league off waivers if you haven’t already.

Outside of Phoenix, who saw the Arizona Cardinals looking this good on offense midway through the NFL season? The team with the worst record in the league last season has already matched their win total from a season ago. Arizona has three wins on the year entering Week 8 and is guaranteed to have a better record than in 2019 because of the Week 1 tie with the Detroit Lions.

No, it’s not just starting quarterback Kyler Murray or head coach Kliff Kingsbury, it’s a total team effort and that includes running back Chase Edmonds. He may be in the same backfield as David Johnson, but if you haven’t picked up Edmonds in your fantasy league, The Fantasy Footballers say you should do so now.

Edmonds is coming off his best game of the season for the Cardinals against the New York Giants. He had 126 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, as well as two catches for 24 additional yards as a receiver. This netted the Arizona tailback 35.00 points in fantasy in Week 8.

Arizona has won three games in a row, albeit against terrible competition. The Cardinals’ winning streak comes at the expense of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Atlanta Falcons and the Giants, who have gone a combined 3-18 this season. But Arizona has at least shown it can beat bad teams thanks to its emerging offense, an offense Edmonds is increasingly becoming a part of.

Edmonds has scored touchdowns in the last three games, both as a runner and as a receiver. He managed 17.60 fantasy points in Week 5’s win over the Bengals and garnered 14.70 fantasy points in Week 6’s victory over the Falcons. Though it might get tough in the Cardinals’ next four games heading into the bye, Edmonds has shown he can get you over 10 points consistently.

While the Cardinals’ next four opponents are at the New Orleans Saints, home for the San Francisco 49ers, at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and home for the 49ers, you have to remember that teams are now entering their bye weeks. So the running back market could be thin and having a tailback that can both run and receive in Edmonds only helps your chances to win in fantasy.

Don’t expect Edmonds to get you 35 points again this week against the 49ers, but it does look like he’s here to stay in the Arizona offense. When he plays well, the Cardinals win and that’s exactly what Kingsbury wants to see happen in the Valley of the Sun this season.
