Galatasaray face Real Madrid at Turk Telekom Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The third game of the Champions League group stage kicks off on Tuesday with Galatasaray hosting Real Madrid in Istanbul. The two clubs enter the game at the bottom of Group A with one point each but will play back-to-back games against each other. With two games against each other, wins in both games will likely secure the victorious team a spot in the knockout stage, while the losing team will be eliminated from moving on.
Galatasaray lost to Paris Saint-Germain in their last game, 1-0, following a scoreless draw against Club Brugge in their opening game of the tournament. The loss against PSG was the second loss of the season for the Lions in all competitions. Galatasaray are fifth in the Turkish Super Lig with 13 points in their first eight games. Ryan Babel leads the club with three goals this season and will be a key player in the Lions’ attack.
Real Madrid needed two second-half goals to come back and draw with Brugge in their last Champions League game. Madrid travel to Istanbul coming off their first La Liga loss of the season against Mallorca. Zinedine Zidane was forced to make several changes to his starting XI with so many players dealing with injuries. Ferland Mendy, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal, Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric did not play against Mallorca. Bale and Kroos have already been ruled out against Galatasaray, while the other players could also miss Tuesday’s game. Zidane will rely on Karim Benzema to continue his hot start to the season. The French start has six goals this season to lead all Real players.
