1. AJ Green to the Patriots

For the record, this is not a reaction to the Josh Gordon injury. Losing him might slightly increase the Patriots’ need to acquire healthy wide receivers, but they needed a weapon like Green even before Gordon was lost for the season.

Green hasn’t played a snap for the Bengals in 2019 due to injury, but he has recently returned to practice. That means there’s a very strong chance he’ll be in position to pass a physical soon. As soon as he can do that, the Bengals need to shop him aggressively.

There’s been some chatter that Green wants to spend his entire career in Cincinnati, but any sort of competitive player wants a chance to win a Super Bowl ring before his career is through. It would be very difficult for Green to turn down an opportunity to catch passes from Tom Brady deep into the playoffs.

Next. 49ers-Panthers is a huge game in Week 8. dark

Trading Green isn’t all bad for the Bengals. They can ask for a lot in return for their Pro Bowl wide receiver. The Patriots might not like giving up first rounders, but that’s the absolute minimum they’ll need to do to get this deal done. Look for Cincinnati to ultimately settle on one first rounder plus another valuable pick in exchange for Green.
