NFL DFS Week 8: Fantasy football cash game breakdown

Michael Thomas – FanDuel $8500 DraftKings $8000

Thomas has been back to his usual self lately grabbing a ton of passes, putting up 100 yards, but not getting into the endzone much. There is a chance Drew Brees comes back this week (in which case he’s worth a look at quarterback of course) but even if he doesn’t, Thomas has done really well with Teddy Bridgewater. Just in the last 4 games he’s averaged more than 10 targets a game and you know he pulls in just about everything thrown his way. Teddy B is a bit of a “dink and dunk” type of quarterback so Thomas isn’t hauling in big game-breaking catches and he had one game with 2 touchdowns but no other receiving touchdowns in the last four. I know it sounds like I’m talking you off of him but really I think he’s as safe as it gets in the top tier price range.

Tyler Lockett – FanDuel $7200 DraftKings $7000

Lockett has been great as his quarterback continues to make his case for the MVP this year. We’ve learned through so many performances that we should play basically anyone and everyone against the Falcons. They continue to get shredded in every possible way. Lockett projects for the longest yard per target on the slate and we know he’s not just a one-trick pony with big plays. If I don’t play Chris Carson, I will be playing either Lockett or DK Metcalf and prioritizing them for sure. You also have to account for the fact Will Dissly isn’t playing and if Matt Ryan does play, the Falcons offense is still relatively potent and will keep the pace of this game up. In fact, it has the highest total on the board as of now.

Courtland Sutton – FanDuel $6000 DraftKings $5300

I do not trust the “elite” one, Joe Flacco. Playing a wide receiver of his in cash games is not a smart move in my opinion. However, Sutton seems to be popping in optimizers and models that I’m seeing plus I’ve heard him discussed on a few podcasts as well. I hope the only reason isn’t due to the departure of Emmanuel Sanders but it is likely playing a big role. I don’t think Sanders being gone makes that big of a difference for Sutton but I could be wrong. It’s not a direct correlation like in basketball. Often times receivers actually do better with someone else talented on the field with them to help draw attention from the safeties etc. I’m just putting him here to let you guys know he seems to be popping up across the industry and in some tools, I utilize for research.
