Let’s break down how insane this Deshaun Watson TD pass was
By John Buhler
Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson celebrates National Tight End Day by throwing the most ridiculous touchdown pass to Darren Fells.
When the Chicago Bears passed on Deshaun Watson in favor of trading up to draft Mitchell Trubisky, they 100 percent passed on Michael Jordan. Watson is already the greatest quarterback in Houston Texans history, as his legend grows by the second, thanks to the unreal plays he can make with his arms and legs. His latest unbelievable play came late against the Oakland Raiders.
Down 24-20 inside of seven minutes remaining in the game, Watson somehow found a way to get the ball to his favorite tight end, Darren Fells, in the end zone for six on National Tight End Day. We didn’t know this was a national holiday until then, but we all knew that Watson was all sorts of amazing for the Texans. It’s almost impossible to understand how he even found Fells for a touchdown.
Watson was about to get sacked by the Raiders pass rush. He is able to spin out of one would-be tackler, only to be almost brought down by another as he threw the football in Fells’ direction for the go-ahead touchdown. But what if we told you Watson got kicked in the face while he threw that most glorious score? Yes, that did happen, which only made this touchdown pass more amazing.
With only one eye open, Watson delivered an aerial strike for six to lift the Texans late past the visiting Raiders. It was a play that almost no other quarterback would be able to make. Sure, it was first-and-goal from the Oakland nine-yard line and the Texans were probably going to score a touchdown on that drive anyway. But to have the poise to make this throw under these circumstances was just spectacular.
Houston is in a very tight race in the AFC South, as all four teams in the division are either at .500 or have a winning record. At least one of those rival teams won’t be playing football this January. Houston has the talent to win the division for the second year in a row, but it won’t be easy with teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans all winning Sunday.

As long as the Texans have Watson healthy and playing quarterback at a high level, Houston will always be in every game they play going forward. Not only do they have their franchise quarterback, but they have their Michael Jordan that a Chicago professional sports team passed on for Trubisky.
