With injuries, bye weeks and trades impacting fantasy football, here are the players to targets off of the waiver wire for week 9.

With week 8 in the books, we are now at the halfway point of the fantasy football season. It’s a bit too late for those teams sitting at 1-7 or 2-6 but if you are at or just below 500, this is an important week. Depending on your result, it will make or break your season.

Making a change or two to your roster could provide a spark to your struggling or even just average team. If you’re still holding onto a veteran player or someone who has a “name,” hoping they have a breakout game, this may be the week you cut bait.

Falcons, Bengals, Rams, Saints on a bye week in week 9. That means Matt Ryan, Jared Goff, Drew Brees, Julio Jones, Tyler Boyd, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Michael Thomas, Devonta Freeman, Joe Mixon, Todd Gurley, Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray and Austin Hooper are unavailable. That is a ton a talent that will be on the bench of fantasy teams this week.

There are also a few players who left week 8 a little banged up. Chase Edmonds is dealing with a hamstring injury. Kamara and Davante Adams are still dealing with injuries. Brandin Cooks left the Rams week 8 game with a concussion. There are a few others with uncertain statuses for week 9.

This week’s waiver wire post includes three quarterbacks, three wide receivers and three defenses. I did not see many breakout performances from running backs outside of the highly-owned players. The same could be said for the tight end position. There just aren’t enough options to go around in fantasy football.

All of the players listed have ownership percentages less than 50 percent based on ESPN leagues.
