2. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have simply not gotten anything out of their ground game this season, with the league’s 27th-ranked rushing attack (83 yards per game) through Week 8 as LeSean McCoy, Damien Williams and Darrel Williams have split carries and been a little banged up in the case of Damien Williams and McCoy.

Before they have to give quarterback Patrick Mahomes what is sure to be a record-setting contract, Kansas City is in a short window to win as currently constructed. Cap space is already going to be tough to come by ($24.7 million for 2020 right now, via Over The Cap), but some contract restructuring or sending a player back to the Jets in a deal for Bell would open up space to take on his cap hit and keep other moves to address needs on the table.

Even if Bell’s best days are behind him, a Kansas City offense with he, Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce as the prominent pieces would be quite dangerous (to put it mildly). Kansas City is a Super Bowl contender until further notice, and a move to fill what looks like a notable hole at running back has to be considered. Getting Bell would be the biggest of those potential moves.
