Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s daily fantasy NBA lineup helper.
Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:
7:30 p.m. ET: Atlanta at Miami
9 p.m. ET: Dallas at Denver
10:10 p.m. ET: Memphis at LA Lakers
How this works:
Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.
Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.
Studs
Luka Doncic (at DEN – $9,500 on DK; $10,400 on FD): I have Luka as my top performer on the night. The Nuggets are on a back-to-back and Luka has simply looked unstoppable early in the season. The Nuggets have a stout defense but I trust Luka to pick them apart given the circumstances and the way he’s playing.
Trae Young (at MIA – $9,000 on DK; $9,400 on FD): The Hawks are on a back-to-back and went down to the wire against the Sixers. And while Young didn’t have a great game, there’s reason to think he can bounce back against a team that isn’t built with all the length in the world.
Jimmy Butler (vs. ATL – $7,700 on DK; $9,000 on FD): Butler makes his season debut and I have a feeling he’s going to make up for lost time. The Hawks are proven to be a scrappy team, but they are on a back-to-back and played a tough game against the Sixers. We’ll see how Butler fits in with Miami, which is obviously a big question given how they’ve started this season.
Jamal Murray (vs. DAL – $6,600 on DK; $7,600 on FD): Murray is a boom or bust player and the Nuggets are coming off a back-to-back. The Mavericks defense has been middle of the road and the Nuggets offense has under-delivered, but I like Murray to go at Luka and try to match him. It could end horribly, but I like Murray over certain guys listed above him.
Anthony Davis (vs. MEM – $10,300 on DK; $12,300 on FD): He’s the top salary and while there’s some value below him, as mentioned above, it’s tough to go wrong with Davis against the Grizzlies. He’s always a double-double threat and can put up monster scoring and rebounding games. LeBron James is obviously a strong option as well. The points should be up in this game.
