DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 31

Top Tier:

I’m a little surprised that Charlie Brewer is this cheap. West Virginia allows an average of 230 passing yards per game and this is a team that can throw it around. Only Kansas State has held Brewer under 25 DraftKings points among FBS opponents. Brewer is the safe pick to build your lineup around.

Middle Tier:

Appalachian is a stronger running team than passing team. That’s not to say that Zac Thomas isn’t a good passer. He’s very not bad. Is that good? Good enough for this slate. Thomas will also tuck and run, making him the only real dual threat at QB on this slate. Thomas is a solid pick here, but he doesn’t have the upside of Brewer since Appalachian may run 40 times.

There are only four starting quarterbacks on this slate, so I’ll mention all of them. To me, only three are in play. Austin Kendall is not efficient or all that accurate. Good defenses can pick him off. Even Texas and their depleted secondary picked Kendall off four times in Morgantown. Kendall is a decent runner, but Thomas is much better. The price isn’t that different, and Kendall is just too mistake prone for me to consider, even on this small of a slate.

Bargain Shoppers:

That leaves us with Shai Werts against a strong Appalachian State defense. Werts has only attempted 44 passes in five games, completing half of them. So you are basically paying $5,200 for a running back. That’s not bad except for the fact that Werts is only averaging 60.6 yards per game on the ground and doesn’t have a rushing touchdown. I can see using Werts in a GPP, but even then, I would limit my exposure.
