Should somebody check to see if Mike Conley is ok?

The latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast reviews the first week of the NBA season and loudly wonders if is ok.

Well, the good news is the Jazz are undefeated in games where Mike Conley shoots under 7 percent from the field. The bad news is, um, obvious.

Conley, who over his last 3 years in Memphis averaged 20.5 points and 6.2 assists, is only making 20 percent of his shots so far for Utah and scoring 7.8 points per game. His debut performance for the Jazz was technically one of the worst shooting performances in NBA history.  After having just three games last season with more turnovers than assists, he already has two such games for the Jazz. He even has two games with five fouls, the same number as he had all of 2018-19.

So is it jitters? Aging? Awkwardness after leaving the comfort zone of the only team he’d never known?

On the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast we offer our theories, while being hopeful he turns it around. Because it’s getting hard to watch.

Also covered:

  • Is Kendrick Nunn the rookie of the year? Where did he come from?
  • Which winless team is in the most trouble: the Kings, Pacers or Pelicans?
  • Is Karl-Anthony Towns more likely to keep leading the league in 3-pointers made or steals?
  • The Suns are playing defense? The Suns are playing defense!
