4. Michael Vick

The original cheat code. Okay, maybe the not the original, but he was the fastest player on the field. He blended that speed with the balance a running back would be jealous of. A quarterback’s arm is often compared to a weapon, but that isn’t fair to Vick. There are no known comps to what his arm was. It looked like he could throw the length of the field on a line. All of that, and he took perennial bridesmaid Virginia Tech to the BCS Championship. He was the scariest quarterback to face.

Fear of Michael Vick is rational. It’s a fear of the unknown. Vick was as comfortable throwing in the pocket as he was on the run. He was as comfortable running the option as he was passing. Oh, and you know that if — if — the pocket collapsed on him, Vick would outrun everyone else on your team. You don’t know how he’s going to beat you, and that is absolutely terrifying. He was a malicious monster with no backstory. No reason why he did carve up defenses the way he did. Vick just did it because that’s how he is made. Vick’s game was the creature in It Follows, stalking his prey in any number of shapes. Utterly terrifying.
