10 college football players that scared the crap out of us
1. Dick Butkus
Indomitable. Strong. Terrifying. Wrecking ball.
All of these words and more can be used to talk about the Warden of the asylum that you’re now trapped inside of. The man you’ve angered with your presence, and now he’s coming for you. Dick Butkus was terrifying for anyone who had to play him in college, or the NFL and would probably be a terrifying force even now.
If that thought doesn’t send a sense of fright down your back, either you’re one of the other people on this list, or you’ve never watched the man dominate at both the linebacker AND center positions in his college career in the ’60s. His ability to intimidate opponents and crash bones blocking at the line of scrimmage make him a shoo-in for a place on this list.
In the fight for Warden supremacy, he comes out just ahead of the aforementioned Ray Lewis as leader of this team of asylum-dwellers and is the final test of your strength in order to escape. Butkus All-American toughness and leadership means that he holds the keys to this nightmare you’re stuck in, and he’s not the sort to give out friendly gifts.
Unless of course, those gifts are tackles, sacks and recovered fumbles. In his nine-year career in the NFL, our Warden recovered 27 fumbles and also had 22 interceptions, complimented with being a terror on the blitz. That all started in his time with Illinois, where he now remains as a legendary figurehead for the program.
He’s the warden for a reason, and you picked the wrong asylum to visit when the most terrifying players in college football come for you.
Good luck.
