2. Southampton concede 15th goal in eight days

Last week, Southampton were the laughing stocks of the soccer world as they were absolutely demolished by Leicester at home. The Saints lost 9-0 to the Foxes in a match that many thought could be close going into it.

That result equaled the biggest losing margin in the Premier League and it’s not a stat that any of the Southampton players will have wanted on their record. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side had little respite either as they lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Austrian’s side have the misfortune of playing against the current champions again this weekend and will be praying that they aren’t in for another drubbing. City fielded a strong but weakened side in midweek and still managed to win 3-1 which means that the south coast team could be in for another long afternoon on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola knows that his side cannot let anything slip now if they want to catch Liverpool in the title race so he’ll be demanding that his squad put in their optimum performance no matter who the opponent is.

Ralph Hasenhuttl shouldered the blame for his side’s abysmal defeat last week and his side definitely showed more fight in midweek. They will have to show the same sort of fight on Saturday if they are to avoid a heavy defeat.

Manchester City will be too powerful for Southampton however. They will notch three before half time which will mean the Saints have conceded 15 times in just eight days. City won’t let up there though and they will bag three more in the second half to run out 6-0 winners.
