AEW Dynamite recap for Oct. 30, 2019: Clash of the titans
By Paul Bradley
AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite this week features the crowning of the AEW Tag Team Champions and the AEW Title match contract signing.
Dead Eye
First match of the broadcast featured “Hangman” Adam Page taking on “The Best Ever” Sammy Guevara.
Both men start off looking to gain the upper hand as Hangman starts stringing strikes together early. Guevara gets planted with a solid suplex but blocks a second attempt at one and takes control of the contest. Guevara firmly has control until he attempts a diving crossbody and gets caught by Hangman who slams Guevara down with a fallaway slam.
Hangman looks to hit a big move to the outside but Guevara is able to stop the attempt. Guevara hoists Hangman up and deadlift squats him before hitting a rough-looking Samoan drop. Guevara goes up top and looks to execute a high-risk maneuver but he just hops down and slaps Hangman, much to the crowd’s dissatisfaction.
The tide starts shifting between the two men until Hangman attempts a Dead Eye on the apron but Guevara escapes. Hangman is still able to throw Guevara down onto the apron and hit a beautiful moonsault off the top rope.
Hangman looks to end the match with a Buckshot but Guevara dodges one and attempts a spinning backfist, which misses. Guevara hits a jumping knee strike but it’s not enough as Hangman gains control again and hits a massive Buckshot to secure the pinfall.
After the match, Hangman gets on the mic and declares that after the rough time he’s had lately, tonight felt good. He also states that at Full Gear he’s going to do some real “Cowboy s–t” and take PAC’s head off.
This was a very solid and fun match to kick off the show. Guevara is still looking for his first singles win but Hangman needed the victory here quite a bit more as he prepares for his second match against “The Bastard” at Full Gear.
