The final week of the CFL regular season is here! Let’s take a look at this week’s slate from a Draftkings perspective.

Before I get into my fantasy football player selections I just wanted to briefly discuss my DFS strategy for the last week of the season. This week, we have several teams locked into playoff positions that are resting players and teams that have been eliminated from playoff contention that are playing a high number of players to see what they have for next season.

How do I handle this from a fantasy perspective? Well, I am looking at teams that are still playing meaningful football in week 21. Additionally, I am looking for players that may need additional statistics to meet season incentive numbers, etc. An example would be a running back that only needs a certain number of rushing yards to have over a 1,000 yards for the season.

It is always to tough to find a good narrative going into the last week of a regular season. I think my narrative is a rather good one. Will it pay off for me? Time will tell.

Let’s shift our focus to my Draftkings player selections for week 21!

Quarterback

Cody Fajardo -Saskatchewan Roughriders $10,400

Yes, I know that Fajardo arrives on the Draftkings slate at a rather high price. However, I think Fajardo provides me the most stability with regard to playing time that I need from my quarterback. The Roughriders are still trying to nail down a home playoff game. The team needs to win this week’s game to accomplish that task. In my opinion, if the Roughriders want to win this week, Cody Fajardo should play every second of this game.

Additionally, I like what I have been seeing from Fajardo on the field lately. Fajardo lit up the Eskimos secondary in week 20. Let me be more specific, Cody passed for 459 yards and two touchdowns. That is outstanding play!

Guess who Mr. Fajardo will face in week 21? He gets the Edmonton Eskimos! I just mentioned that Fajardo had no issues through the air versus an Edmonton defense that looked a step slow at times last week.

It also has to be said that Edmonton coach Jason Mass has reported that he will rest multiple players in this week’s game. Edmonton is locked into it’s playoff position and cannot benefit from winning this game.

Edmonton resting players will only help Fajardo perform at a high level again in week 21. For me, Cody Fajardo is without a doubt the quarterback to play in all Draftkings contests this week.

Running Back

John Crockett-Ottawa Redblacks $5,200

In my opinion, Crockett is clearly the best running back on the Ottawa roster and was illustrating just that on the field earlier this year before he suffered an injury in week nine. Unfortunately, he has not returned to game action yet. Prior to his injury, Crockett was averaging an average of 5.4 yards a carry, which I think is very good.

The Ottawa running back’s availability for this week’s game became much clearer yesterday when Ottawa Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell reported that Crockett had returned to full practice. Campbell also indicated that barring any setbacks, Crockett would start Friday’s game versus Montreal.

If Crockett is active and draws the start for Ottawa, I love his chances to perform versus a Montreal defense that has struggled against the run all season. Just to provide some clarity to that statement, the Alouettes are currently allowing an average of 107.2 yards rushing a game. That is NOT good.

Wide Receivers

Kyran Moore-Saskatchewan Roughriders $7,500

This week, I am stacking Cody Fajardo with his number one receiving option in week 20! Step up Kyran Moore! Kyran had 10 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns in Saskatchewan’s victory over Edmonton last week.

I love Moore’s chances to continue his outstanding play versus Edmonton again this week. This is a game that I see the Roughriders winning easily.  I feel rather confident that Moore will continue to be very involved in the offense in week 21!

Armanti Edwards-Toronto Argonauts $6,800

I mentioned earlier in this article that i would be looking for players that were looking to hit certain season statistics that may have an effect on a player’s fantasy production this week. Well, I think I have found a wide receiver that certainly fits that criteria.

Edwards has been in the CFL since 2016. Edwards has just missed out on the mark of attaining 1,000 yards receiving yards in a single season multiple times. Most recently, Edwards finished 2018 with a total of 974 receiving yards.

I think Toronto throws Edwards direction early and often in this week’s final regular season game to ensure that he has over 1,000 yards receiving in 2019. Look for Edwards to have a nice fantasy day in week 21.

Defense

Hamilton Tiger-Cats $5,400

For my defense, I am going with a team that will likely be resting it’s starters. However, I am not concerned. Why? Well, Hamilton draws a Toronto Argonauts team that has been extremely kind with regard to providing opposing defenses interceptions, fumbles, and sacks on a consistent basis each week!

Additionally, Hamilton’s defense has been playing well as of late. An illustration of that is how Hamilton has played over the last three games. Over the last three games, the Tiger-Cats defense is averaging 12.6 Draftkings points a game.

In my opinion, the Tiger-Cats will continue to perform at a high level in week 21. I am backing Hamilton’s defense with confidence!
