DraftKings Showdown Thursday Night Football: Arizona Cardinals vs San Francisco 49ers
DraftKings Showdown: Flex
Jimmy Garoppolo – $10,400
The Cardinals are the most giving team to quarterbacks in the league, as they allow 24.6 points per-game to the position. While I will have Garoppolo in the flex for all Kittle and 49er pass-catcher builds, I do believe you can fade him in some of your builds. Not only has the volume not been there, but he has also not been very efficient in terms of fantasy football production with nine touchdowns to seven interceptions. With a defense as good as the niners and a rushing attack that has yet to really be stopped, I am not surprised that he only averages 27 attempts per-game. With another blowout looming, it is unlikely that we can project much more than the 13.9 fantasy points per-game that he averages this season.
Kyler Murray – $9,800
A really difficult matchup for the rookie out of Oklahoma, as the 49ers allow the second fewest amount of points to the quarterback position. His rushing upside is what keeps him in my player-pool, even though he has failed to reach more than 11 points in the past two weeks. In a game that the Cardinals are likely to be trailing by double-digits, Murray should be in an optimal garbage time situation that should allow for some points late in the second half for one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the league. You can pair Murray with one of his pass-catchers, Drake or even play him as your lone Cardinal this week.
Christian Kirk – $7,200
My favorite Cardinal on the slate is Christian Kirk. In his five games with the Cardinals, Kirk is the most targeted receiver averaging 9.4 per-game. While Larry Fitzgerald still generates a large target-share, Kirk is far more capable of piling up receiving numbers than the 36 year-old veteran. You can stack him with Murray or play him solo in your 49er onslaught stacks, as he touches the ball on 11% of snaps played which is the second-highest rate on the team.
Larry Fitzgerald – $7,000
Playing Larry Fitzgerald is like dying by a thousand cuts. The future Hall of Fame receiver has seen his production take a massive hit catching only three passes for 20 yards in the last two weeks. While he is unlikely to break away from defenders, he is still one of the main passing options on a team that is likely to be trailing the entire game. I am capping my ownership of Fitzgerald at around 20%.
Matt Breida – $6,600
The one injury that we will need to really monitor up to lock is that of Matt Breida‘s ankle. If the running back can’t go, Coleman’s value is increased significantly. If he does go, it really muddies up the Showdown slate as he averages 34% of snaps and has out-touched every other player on this 49er team. In a game that the 49ers should have a double-digit lead in the second half, we should be expecting a lot of carries by the 49er running backs. I will be underweight on Breida, as it is likely they give Raheem Mostert or Jeff Wilson increased touches in that type of blowout situation due to Breida’s health. If the game is close though, he will have close to as many carries as Coleman and probably be on the winning lineup tomorrow night. Proceed with caution!
Deebo Samuel – $5,200
With the acquisition of Sanders, the 49ers elevated Samuel over Pettis last week as Samuel played 70% of the snaps while Pettis played 30%. I would look for that to continue as the former Gamecock gives them more of a spark on offense while being more physical at the point of attack in the running game. While he is unlikely to see more than six targets, Samuel is someone who you will need in some builds as he could be the most targeted wide receiver on the 49ers this week with Peterson shadowing Sanders.
