Oregon and SMU going on the road in college football Week 10 makes them prime upset picks but which other teams are on upset alert?

Normally in the heart of conference play in college football, upset picks are not terribly difficult to locate. That, however, is not the case when you look at the slate for Week 10. Outside of the Georgia-Florida rivalry game and the undefeated SMU Mustangs going on the road to face the No. 24 Memphis Tigers, there are no ranked teams playing one another.

On top of that, Clemson is the only team ranked in the top five in action and they play Wofford in what should be a blowout with for the Tigers. In the kindest terms, college football Week 10 offers fans some potentially entertaining games but there is very much not a murderer’s row of games that you have to be tuning into. And yet, we have to put some teams on upset alert — those are the rules.

Making matters difficult with picking possible upsets is the fact that Florida and Georgia squaring off does not qualify by my standards. The Gators are the No. 6 team in the country while the Bulldogs are not far behind at No. 8. Moreover, they are both one-loss SEC teams and the game is being played, as always, at a neutral site in Jacksonville. Whoever wins, it’s not an upset but rather just a big win.

Lucky for those that love a good college football upset, though, there are still some brewing if you know where to look. Teams like the aforementioned SMU Mustangs, the Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes are all on the road in Week 10, taking on conference opponents that both have strong home-field advantages and are capable of competing with them.

Outside of that, a couple of ACC teams have the potential to pull off an upset on Saturday given some special sets of circumstances. After all that, despite the light schedule on tap for Week 10, we have a nice blend of potential upsets that could be brewing throughout the country.

Let’s dive into those games, though, looking at the five college football teams that are in real danger of losing in Week 10 and putting them unquestionably on upset alert.
