Looking for eccentric, unconventional college football games that will still be intriguing to watch? Here’s this week’s slate of underrated games that die-hard fans will love.

Each and every week, certain college football matchups go unnoticed and unappreciated. These games get overlooked and unwatched.

There’s a variety of reasons for that.

Sometimes the games are featuring teams that legitimately aren’t good. Sometimes the games are on smaller tv channels that aren’t as popular. But that doesn’t mean that the games themselves aren’t entertaining and aren’t worth watching.

This week, there’s plenty of matchups that are flying under the radar that deserve some attention. If you’re up for watching some eccentric and unconventional football, this slate of games is for you.

No. 5: Oregon State vs. Arizona

The Oregon State Beavers are headed to Tucson to face off against the Arizona Wildcats. At one point this season, the Wildcats were riding a four-game winning streak and, though they didn’t seem all that good, appeared capable of making a solid bowl game. Now, on a three-game losing streak, Arizona is the perfect sort of team for a rebuilding Oregon State squad to upset. The Beavers aren’t very good, but they’re fresh off of a solid win over California. Now, they’re looking to get to .500 on the year.

No. 4: Mississippi State vs. Arkansas

The battle between Mississippi State and Arkansas might just be between the worst teams in the SEC West. The Bulldogs already have an embarrassing loss to Tennessee. Arkansas is still wandering in the wilderness, struggling to field a competent team. This game will likely be mistake-prone, full of nonsense, and is between two bad teams. But, that could make it interesting. That could mean that these two teams are evenly matched and will provide a game that is at least entertaining for outsiders to watch. It won’t be enjoyable for anyone who is actually invested in the teams competing in this game though.

No. 3: UAB vs. Tennessee

Speaking of Tennessee, the Vols get to host Bill Clark and the UAB Blazers. Tennessee is a notable favorite over the Blazers, but UAB is 6-1 on the year. While this game is in Knoxville, there’s no reason to doubt that this could be a close game as Clark and the Blazers will arrive at Rocky Top ready to play. Tennessee can’t afford to overlook this game.

No. 2: TCU vs. Oklahoma State

Okay, this one will be receiving plenty of attention because it’s on ESPN at 3:30 p.m., but it should be getting plenty of attention because both teams can score points by the dozen. High-scoring games are almost always a joy to watch and these two teams combine to average just under 950 yards of offense per game. If you like points, expect to see plenty of them as the Horned Frogs head north to Stillwater.

No. 1: Nebraska vs. Purdue

Nebraska and Purdue will be a battle between two Big Ten teams searching for answers this season. The Huskers have struggled to be consistent, showing occasional flashes of promise while also continuing to find ways to disappoint their fans. Purdue is dinged up from injury issues and is simply looking to keep its dwindling bowl chances alive at this point. The Boilermakers are backed up against a wall and can’t afford to lose any games at this point. It’ll be intriguing to see what they can do at home under such circumstances.
