Fantasy Football 2019 Week 9 Quarterback Streaming Picks
By Bill Pivetz
There are three quarterbacks available with good matchups if you are looking for a replacement fantasy football quarterback due to injury or bye week.
With three startable quarterbacks on a bye this week, fantasy football owners are looking for viable replacements to hold them over in Week 9. Well, looking through the waiver wire, there aren’t many but I was able to find three that owners can pick from.
Matt Ryan, Jared Goff, Drew Brees and Andy Dalton (despite the benching, he was ranked 15th), are all unavailable to fantasy owners. If you play in 12-team or even deeper leagues, finding a replacement is imperative to your success, especially at this point in the season.
The three quarterbacks I found are available in less than 60 percent of ESPN leagues. They all have favorable matchups with good weapons to put up enough points to make them worth it.
Kirk Cousins @ KC
Cousins surprisingly struggled against Washington, scoring just 11.6 points. Before that, though, he threw for at least 300 years with 10 touchdowns and one interception in the three previous games.

Adam Thielen is working through a hamstring injury. He’s been practicing, but on a limited basis. Though, he hasn’t been ruled out for this game.
The Chiefs defense has allowed an average of 19.1 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and they’ve faced Jacksonville and Denver. Cousins has been solid all season and this game will help his status.
Derek Carr vs. DET
Carr put up his best game of the season last week. He threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns against Houston. This matchup against Detroit lines up for Carr to have another good game.
The Lions defense has allowed an average of 21.1 points to quarterbacks per game including 29.2 and 28.2 in their last two games. Carr put up 578 passing yards with five touchdowns and one interception in the two games after their bye week.
Carr has Tyrell Williams and Darren Waller as his top targets. Hunter Renfrow is breaking out a bit, giving the Raiders another weapon on the offense.
Sam Darnold @ MIA
Since returning from injury, Darnold has looked good in two of his three games. He threw for 556 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He looks to continue his recovery with this matchup against the Dolphins.
Miami is ranked 29th in points allowed per game to quarterbacks, 23.1. The defense’s best performance came in week 6 against Washington.
The Jets didn’t make any changes to the offense, so Darnold still has Robby Anderson, Le’Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder. Tight end Chris Herndon is questionable for this week so his return will help Darnold even more.
These quarterbacks have their ups, but they also have their downs. This week, based on the matchups, could be an up week. You don’t need to make a long-term commitment to this player. They are on your roster for one week, just to get you through until your main quarterback is back.
