NXT UK recap, Oct. 31: More like N HEX T SPOO-K

A-Kid A-Debuts
Hey, how about two matches that makes effective use of the big guy versus small guy, power versus speed dynamic? Sure, this one does end in a count out win, but they earn it and it works.
A-Kid — not two kids stacked on top of each other but an actual talented wrestler — makes his NXT UK debut, taking on Kassius Ohno. This is the platonic ideal of a Ohno match, as his opponent is both a debuting talent and an agile millennial. He hates both those things so much! It’s also another match in the long list of Ohno losses where his downfall is not taking his opponent seriously enough. Good thing Ohno considers all his losses to be flukes, chalk up another one that was in no way your fault, guy.
But yeah, A-Kid looks really good! He’s got agility, he’s got technical skills, and he’s got a win over Wrestling Genius and Greatest British Wrestler Alive Kassius Ohno. Actually, he outsmarts Ohno, kicking him away from the apron at the last possible second to secure the count-out victory.
This of course enrages Ohno who — even though this loss is obviously a fluke and doesn’t matter — attacks A-Kid from behind afterwards, and locks him in the Kassius Klutch (assumed spelling), a hold Tom Phillips proclaims to have not seen in years. It’s as if the hold came back from the dead like a slasher movie villain for one last kill!! Ahh, scary!
Thankfully, this isn’t a slasher movie and number one A-Kid stan Tyler Bate comes out to make the save. Regardless of Ohno’s sour feelings, A-Kid is a winner and defeats the witch’s hex against debuting wrestlers who receive multiple weeks of hype. Sad the same can’t be said for poor Oliver Carter.
