Perhaps the two most surprising clubs in the Premier League this season have been Crystal Palace and Leicester. After six straight seasons of finishing 10th or worse, Palace are sixth in the Premier League table after 10 games. Leicester are third in the table after back to back ninth-place finishes. On Sunday, Crystal Palace host Leicester at Selhurst Park in their first meeting of the season.

Despite having a negative goal differential, Palace have managed to pick up 15 points. Last weekend, the Eagles picked up a 2-2 draw against Arsenal. Palace have scored only 10 goals this season but have scored at least two goals in three of their previous four games. Jordan Ayew has proved to be a smart signing. Palace signed Ayew from Swansea for €2.8 million and he has rewarded the club with a team-best four goals this season. At Selhurst Park this season, Palace have picked up eight points in five games but have been particularly difficult to score against. In their five home games, the Eagles have recorded three clean sheets.

Leicester equaled the biggest victory in Premier League history last weekend when they beat Southampton 9-0. The victory improved the Foxes’ goal differential to +17, the second-best mark in the Premier League. Jamie Vardy scored three goals against Southampton, giving him a Premier League best nine goals this season. Despite being 32-years-old, Vardy has shown no signs of slowing down. After failing to score in his first nine games with Leicester, Ayoze Perez netted a hat-trick against Southampton. The Spanish striker has formed a strong partnership with Vardy with both players and Leicester benefitting from the pairing. Manager Brandan Rodgers will stick with the duo as Leicester will try and break down Palace’s defense.
