DraftKings Showdown: Flex

Tom Brady – $11,200

The Patriot offense has really been struggling over the last three weeks as they currently rank 25th in yards per play (4.8). A lot of that can be attributed to the losses on the offensive line with Center David Andrews and Tackle Isaiah Wynn out for the season. With the Ravens having two weeks to prepare, I think it could be another night that this Patriots team struggles on the road offensively. Those reasons alone will keep Brady out of the Captain for me, but it is imperative to play Brady in the Flex when you have a Patriots pass-catcher in at Captain. While I am unlikely to overweight the field with Brady, I will have several stacks including White, Edelman and one of his other pass-catchers.

Mark Ingram – $8,200

Leading the team in carries (99), Mark Ingram should see a lot of work against a vulnerable Patriots defense up front. Last week Nick Chubb gashed this defense for 131 yards on just 20 carries. While he will hardly be used in the passing game, Ingram should still see 15+ carries and the majority of the work near the goal-line. With such a low ceiling, I will only have a sprinkle of Ingram in at Captain, as it will take a couple of goal-line plunges to break the slate.

Sony Michel – $7,600

One player who has not looked very explosive this year has been Sony Michel. The second-year player out of Georgia lacks burst and vision and has really been a disappointment thus far averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. One way to make up for poor play though is massive volume, which is just what Michel has seen. He is currently averaging 18 carries a game and has seen some involvement in the passing game, which was not the case last season. I expect that to change some as the Patriots coaching staff is as sharp as they come and Rex Burkhead looks to be getting healthy after missing several weeks. In the three games that Burkhead was healthy, Michel has 51 touches to Burkhead’s 31, look for the staff to incorporate Burkhead more this week. He is only a flex play for me this week.

Mark Andrews – $7,400

It is clear where Lamar Jackson prefers to go with the football as Mark Andrews leads the team in receptions, targets, yards and touchdowns. With Stefon Gilmore shadowing Marquise Brown, I would expect Bill Belichick to double Andrews to take him out of the game while also chipping him at the line of scrimmage. With that said, his volume alone should make him a viable play in your flex builds with Jackson or running it back with a heavy Patriots passing attack build. I would not be shocked to see Nick Boyle or Hayden Hurst more involved this week as the Patriots will do their best to take away the best receiver for this Ravens passing attack.

Marquise Brown – $7,200

With Stephon Gilmore likely to shadow Brown, I am going to be underweight on the explosive rookie, as I view Gilmore as the best corner in the league. If I am playing Brown, I will be playing Lamar Jackson in that stack as well.

Mohamed Sanu – $6,800

In his first game with the Patriots Mohamed Sanu saw 54% of the snaps and five targets in his Patriots debut. I expect Marlon Humphrey to shadow Julian Edelman or Mohamed Sanu as both players see a lot of snaps in the slot and Humphrey is the best slot corner that the Ravens have. While I prefer Edelman over Sanu, his big frame makes him an excellent red-zone target for Brady. He is only viable in the flex and will be paired with Brady as he will need to score to be on the winning showdown lineup.

Phillip Dorsett II – $6,600

The addition of Mohamed Sanu did not have an effect on Dorsett’s playing time as he saw 93% of the snaps and six targets which was second on the team. With Sanu and Edelman working the short to intermediate routes, Dorsett takes over as the main deep-threat on this Patriots offense with Josh Gordon no longer on the team.
