The fourth game of the Champions League group stage kicks off on Tuesday with Barcelona hosting Slavia Prague. The two teams played two weeks ago with Barcelona winning 2-1 in the Czech Republic. Barcelona are first in the group with seven points, three points ahead of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. Slavia Prague are last in the group with one point.
Barcelona were shocked over the weekend losing 3-1 to Levante. The loss was the third straight season that Barcelona have lost away to Levante. While Barcelona have struggled at Levante, they have a perfect record at home this season, winning all five of their games at Camp Nou. Ernesto Valverde will have to adjust his starting XI, as Luis Suarez will likely miss the game with an ankle injury. The injury might be a blessing in disgust. Valverde has struggled to figure out a way to integrate Antoine Griezmann into the team. With Suarez out, Griezmann can slot into his natural position.
Slavia Prague are unbeaten in the Czech league, holding a 10 point lead over Viktoria Plzen. While Slavia are running away with the Czech league, competing in the Champions League was always going to be a tough task. The club’s executives laughed when they realized that they were drawn into the group of death. While Prague are extremely unlikely to advance out of the group stage or even finishing third and qualifying for the Europa League, they can play spoiler and keep a team out of the knockout stage.
