Mike Leach and his battles with Texas Tech

Mike Leach made the Texas Tech Red Raiders an offensive powerhouse that would go toe-to-toe with just about anyone, no matter how good they were. In 2008, Leach’s Red Raiders went 11-2 and then took a slight step back in 2009, going 8-4 during the regular season before Leach was let go that December.

But, Leach being let go by Texas Tech had nothing to do with anything that happened on the field. Instead, it had everything to do with how Leach allegedly handled a player with a concussion.

One report claimed Adam James was put in a “dark shed” as Leach allegedly thought James was faking his injury. Leach was then fired following those allegations. However, reports conflicting that claim surfaced later.

Ultimately, 10 years after Leach led the Red Raiders to that 11-win season, Leach led the Washington State Cougars to an 11-win season of their own, but he seemingly hasn’t let go of being fired by Texas Tech.

Leach has sued Tech and been very critical of the university openly. It’s unlikely that the situation between Leach and the university will get better any time soon.
