2. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

The last time that we saw Jalen Hurts leading the Oklahoma Sooners on the gridiron, he fell short in a comeback attempt at Kansas State, giving him and the Sooners their first loss of the season. Given the upset defeat, it stands to reason that Hurts’ Heisman candidacy has taken a slight hit. However, considering that he had almost 500 yards of offense and four touchdowns, it’s hard to dock him too much.

In his first season at the helm in Norman, Hurts has 2,469 yards passing with 21 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Just as importantly, he’s added 801 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. And while the loss to Kansas State doesn’t do him any favors, the former Alabama quarterback has done enough to keep himself in position to make a move to win the Heisman Trophy if he can stay great and if a window opens.

1. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Joe Burrow stands at the top of the 2019 Heisman Trophy rankings largely because of how he’s performed in the biggest moments of LSU’s season. Against Texas, against Florida and against Auburn, the quarterback stepped up and delivered big-time performances for the Tigers. When you couple that with his impressive production this season, Burrow remains the leader of the pack.

For the year, Burrow has completed an unreal 78.8 percent of his passes for 2,805 yards, 30 touchdowns and only four interceptions, adding three rushing scores as well. Of course, whether or not he remains in the No. 1 spot could depend on how he performs against Alabama in the titanic Week 11 matchup slated to captivate everyone in the college football world on Saturday.
