For the second straight game, Napoli and Red Bull Salzburg will play against each other in the Champions League. In the first game, Napoli defeated Salzburg 3-2 in Austria. On Tuesday, Salzburg travel to the San Paolo to play Napoli. The Donkeys are first in the Champions League group with seven points, one point ahead of Liverpool. Salzburg are third in the group with four points, three behind Napoli.
Dries Mertens was excellent in the first game against Salzburg. The Belgian striker scored twice and assisted on Lorenzo Insigne winning goal. While Carlo Ancelotti’s team have been great in the Champions League, they have struggled in Serie A. Napoli have fallen way out of the title race after losing to Roma over the weekend and dropping points in four of their previous five games. Ancelotti’s team will have to be better defensively if they are going to beat Salzburg again. While Salzburg might not be a big team, they have shown an incredible ability to score goals through three Champions League games.
Before the Champions League start, Erling Haaland was barely known outside of Austria and his native Norway. The 19-year-old striker has gone from relative unknown to potential superstar with his performance in the Champions League. Haaland leads all players in the Champions League with six goals, including two against Napoli. The Norwegian striker has 22 goals in 16 games this season. If Salzburg are going to stun the Donkeys, they will need another strong performance from Haaland
