Recap: There were rumors of a massive housecleaning when it came to the Green and White. And while defensive lineman Leonard Williams was dealt to the New York Giants, safety Jamal Adams, running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Robby Anderson are all still the club. And all were in the starting lineup when the team collided with the 0-7 Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Sam Darnold got his team off to a terrific start but here would be nothing but three field goals and a safety the rest of the afternoon. New York’s pass rush sacked Ryan Fitzpatrick four times but he would throw for 288 yards and three scores. And the Jets failed to force a turnover in the disappointing loss.

Next Week: The co-residents of the MetLife Stadium battle in the regular season for the first time since 2015 as the Green and White plays host to Big Blue. While the franchises meet annually in the preseason, this is the 14th regular-season outing between the teams. Four years ago, the Jets came away with a 23-20 overtime “road” win.

Playoff hopes: The Jets have followed up that recent upset of the Dallas Cowboys with three consecutive losses. Darnold’s turnover issues have continued and the defense seems to be digressing. It’s a team that certainly got off an unfortunate start with the quarterback situation. But so much for momentum after that first win of the season.

Recap: The Dolphins have done a lot of wheeling and dealing this year. Last week, they sent running back Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals. But they also wound up acquiring a veteran player in another deal as cornerback Aqib Tabib was picked up from the Rams. On the field, Brian Flores’ club has been much more competitive as of late, giving the Steelers fits early last week while opening up a 21-7 second-quarter lead vs. the Jets on Sunday. Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 288 yards and all three of his TD passes came in the third quarter. And after spotting New York a 7-0 lead, the Miami defense did not allow another touchdown the rest of the game.

Next Week: The Dolphins make their way north to Indianapolis for the second consecutive year. Last season, the team fell short in a 27-24 loss (Week 12), which also marks the last time these one-time divisional rivals squared off. Dating back to 2003, Miami has lost two consecutive games to the Colts and owns a 1-6 record in this series.

Playoff hopes: The team had been making strides in recent weeks and it finally paid off with Flores’ first win as a head coach. Unfortunately, the Dolphins are chasing two teams in the AFC East in the Patriots and Bills, both of whom they lost once already this season. This could be an interesting club to watch the remainder of the year.
