Lokomotiv Moscow face Juventus at RZD Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After three Champions League games, Juventus are tied for first in Group D with Atletico Madrid. On Wednesday, Lokomotiv Moscow host Juventus at RZD Arena. The two teams played two weeks ago in Turin, with Juventus winning 2-1.
Aleksey Miranchuk opened the scoring for Lokomotiv in the first game against Juventus. However, the Russian club could not hold on as Paulo Dybala scored two goals in three minutes late in the second half. The loss dropped Lokomotiv four points back of Juventus and Atletico in the race for a spot in the knockout stage.
Domestically, Lokomotiv are three points back in the Russian Premier Liga title race. Manager Yuri Semin will have to make changes to his lineup as striker Fedor Smolov will miss the game with an ankle injury. Smolov has been Semin’s first choice at striker this season but will turn to Eder against Juventus. Miranchuk and Grzegorz Krychowiak will play a key role for Lokomotiv against Juventus. The two midfielders have combined for 13 goals this season.
Juventus have won eight straight Serie A titles and lead in the table as they chase their record ninth in a row. While Juventus have been incredibly successful over the past decade domestically, the club would likely trade that success for a Champions League title. Juve have not won the Champions League since 1996 and have lost five finals since they last won.
Manager Maurizio Sarri made several summer signings hoping to put Juventus over the top. The additions of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have helped strengthen the midfield. However, the club is dealing with a couple of injuries at center-back. Giorgio Chiellini is out for the season with a torn ACL and his replacement Matthijs de Ligt could miss Wednesday’s game with an ankle injury. In the attacking third, Juventus will turn to the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Dybala. Ronaldo has the record for most goals in the Champions League and has six goals this season.
