2. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts have been a bit of an enigma this season, and that trend continued on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Losing starter Jacoby Brissett early in the game didn’t help, but Indianapolis had a chance to win the game late only for Adam Vinatieri to miss a 43 yard field goal wide left.

That loss could prove to be very damaging for the Colts, who had a chance to maintain their lead in the AFC South with an impressive victory behind backup quarterback Brian Hoyer. Instead, the Colts are 5-3 and find themselves in need of a victory this week to stabilize things ahead of a tricky second half schedule.

Luckily for Indy, the schedule makers have served up a soft landing spot courtesy of a home game against the Miami Dolphins. While it is true that Miami did get into the win column this week, that was more a function of the complete ineptitude of the New York Jets than anything Miami really did well.

That performance was very likely a blip on the radar for the Dolphins, who should return to their tanking ways this week. That is good news for the Colts, who should be able to find a way to win this game even if Hoyer has to remain under center this week.

Brissett, who is dealing with an MCL sprain in his left knee, still has a shot to play this week. Even if he doesn’t, the Colts cannot afford to be Miami’s second straight victim with a tough second half schedule ahead.
