5 Premier League predictions: Mane double as Liverpool beat Manchester City
3. Aubameyang nets double as struggling Arsenal beat Leicester
In the later game on Saturday, Arsenal travel to Leicester in a match that could see the Foxes create some daylight between themselves and those outside of the top four. Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently third with 23 points whilst Arsenal sit in 5th with 17 points.
That puts a little bit of pressure on Leicester as they know that this game will give them a great platform to hold a Champions League place for the rest of this season. Arsenal on the other hand have had a torrid few weeks and it doesn’t seem like a trip to Leicester will make things that much better.
The Gunners’ away form has been horrific this season and they’ve only managed to win once away from home in the Premier League – away to Newcastle on the opening weekend. That is a stat that needs to improve immediately if Unai Emery’s side want to challenge for a top four spot.
Arsenal’s last league win came at the start of October and they’ve fallen off the top-four pace.
However, one big positive for Arsenal fans is that they do have some fantastic attacking talents who could turn this season around if they start firing. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been doing that this season but he needs more help from the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe, who have largely struggled in that department.
Emery’s side will not win this match through a strong defensive performance so the attackers really need to show up.
Everyone has marveled over Leicester’s performances this season and rightly so. The Foxes have been in fantastic form and are playing like a team who feel they can beat anyone. Rodgers needs a great deal of credit here because he hasn’t changed this squad much from the side that was struggling for consistency in the Premier League last season.
The Foxes will hit a minor road bump this weekend though, when Arsenal finally put in a complete performance and win this one 3-2. Jamie Vardy will open the scoring for Leicester but an Aubameyang double will give Arsenal the lead before Pepe adds a third. Vardy will bag his own brace and Leicester will push for the equalizer but to no avail.
