There is a lot to pay attention to for fantasy football week 10 with six teams on a bye and teams figuring out if they are playoff-bound or not.

The fantasy football season is quickly passing us by. Week 10 is already underway with the Raiders win over the Chargers on Thursday night. With general managers and head coaches trying to figure out if they are in the playoff hunt, there are a few storylines to watch this week.

The Bengals were the first team to make a major change. Sitting at 0-8, they decided to bench Andy Dalton and start rookie quarterback Ryan Finley. A.J. Green is also out indefinitely, crushing the hopes of any fantasy owner who stashed him.

The Panthers placed Cam Newton on the IR, ending his season. This means that Kyle Allen will be the team’s starter for the rest of the season. The Panthers are 5-1 since Allen took over and he has 1,291 yards, nine touchdowns, four interceptions and a 60.7 completion percentage.

Those are just two teams, albeit two completely different circumstances, that made a change which affects fantasy football. What else can we expect before or after Sunday’s games?

Devin Singletary takes the next step

Singletary seems to be getting more playing time over the last couple of weeks. He’s played 67 and 66 percent of the offensive snaps in Weeks 8 and 9, respectively. Singletary had 20 carries last week and is even playing on passing downs.

More from Fantasy Football

With Singletary’s usage increasing, Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon (yes, he’s still on the team), may not be getting as many touches. Singletary’s ownership is up to 83 percent, so if you stashed him or were able to pick him up recently, you have a top-20 running back on your team.

Who Leads The Cardinals Backfield?

The Cardinals. backfield has been a revolving door this season. David Johnson started the season and looked good for the first six weeks but has been hindered by an ankle injury. That allowed Chase Edmonds to break out but he is now dealing with a hamstring injury.

As a result, Arizona traded for Kenyan Drake and he did not hesitate to perform for his new team. Drake had 15 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Going forward, who is going to be the lead back for the Cardinals? Both Drake and Johnson are healthy for week 10. Edmonds has been ruled out and with the new addition, who knows how much playing time he’ll get. Committees never benefit fantasy owners, so seeing how the splits break down at the end of this game could help predict the future.

Can JuJu Smith-Schuster rebound?

Smith-Schuster has not been the same wide receiver we saw last season. He has just one game with over 20 points in PPR leagues and two more with at least 17 points. The change in quarterbacks is not helping his fantasy value.

Mason Rudolph has a 66.4 completion percentage with 976 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions in his five starts. He’s been throwing more short passes and dump-offs, limiting JuJu’s effectiveness.

If you own Smith-Schuster, his decreased value makes him hard to trade. This week’s matchup against the Rams may not help either. It’s a tough situation but one with limited escape routes.

Quarterback conundrums

As I mentioned earlier, two teams already made decisions regarding their quarterback. Dalton was benched and Newton was placed on the IR. The Jaguars also announced that Nick Foles will take over the starting job as “Minshew Mania” comes to an end.

Even with his poor performance in week 9, Gardner Minshew was able to help DJ Chark and Chris Conley shine. Leonard Fournette is averaging almost five yards per attempt. It will be interesting to see how this offense performs with Foles back under center.

Jameis Winston has been a roller coaster this season, performing better on the road than at home. Mike Evans is still putting up big numbers but the team isn’t winning. While I don’t think the team makes a change this season, it will be worth watching to see which Winston we get against the league’s worst pass defense in Arizona.

Jacoby Brissett and Matthew Stafford are listed as questionable heading into week 10. Brissett has an MLC injury and is a game-time decision. The Colts are 5-3 and are in the Wild Card hunt, so I don’t expect him to play.

As for Stafford, he has back and hip injuries. He was limited in practice but is expected to play. Though, the matchup against the Bears defense may end up aggravating those injuries.

Next. Fantasy football week 10: Exploitable inefficiencies. dark

With five weeks left of the fantasy football regular season, fantasy owners need to pay attention to all of the news, both on and off the field. You need to know if your players will be on the field and for how long. There’s not much time left and your mistakes need to be limited.
