Heisman rankings Week 11: Joe Burrow can write his acceptance speech now
10. Shane Buechele, QB, SMU
Due to the fact that SMU lost last week most people have seemingly lost sight of the Mustangs, despite the fact that this team is now 9-1 after a win over East Carolina on Saturday and is one of the most exciting offensive teams in the country. At the heart of that is quarterback and Texas transfer Shane Buechele, who once again propelled SMU to victory in a shootout.
Buechele was slinging the pigskin all over the field against ECU on Saturday, going 33-of-46 for 414 yards, five touchdowns and one interception on the day. The Mustangs quarterback eclipsed 3,000 yards passing for the year now, hitting 3,195 yards, while adding 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions, notching two rushing touchdowns as well. He generals one of the most exciting offenses in the country of a viably good team and deserves a place in the top 10.
9. Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
It stands to reason that Travis Etienne and the Clemson Tigers were motivated as they went on the road to face NC State on Saturday night. After getting left out of the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings, Dabo Swinney’s team came out to make a statement. They managed to do that in a 55-10 blowout victory and, as per usual, the star running back was a key factor in that.
Etienne finished the win with only 14 carries but took them for 112 yards and two touchdowns, adding three receptions for 31 yards and another touchdown for good measure. He now has 1,214 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns with an unreal 8.9 yards per carry average in the 2019 season, adding 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns as well. Etienne has been incredible and still has room to climb up these rankings down the stretch.
